Albert Cheng - CEO

Albert Cheng is a prominent Designer in Hong Kong. As a graduate in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto, he has 15 years of broad experience in residential landscape design, mixed use development, resort planning and large scale tourism master planning. He is the president and founder of Cohere Design. Previously, Albert was the Chief Designer and Vice President of Belt Collins International (HK) responsible for more than 200 landscape planning and design commissions. His strong foundational skills in landscape, architecture and construction, combined with his methodical thought process, result in an array of creative solutions for every design challenge. Albert currently collaborates with a large number of developers from Hong Kong and China.

Ted Baker – Director

BLA, OALA, CSLA, FSLA

Ted started his own practice in Landscape Architecture in 1977. He became a Fellow in the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects in 1992 and Chair of the College of Fellows from 2011 to 2013. He has taught at both Ryerson University and at the University of Toronto, as well as being a regular guest lecturer at Niagara College. In addition to his accomplishments in Landscape Architecture, Ted Baker has participated in the design and renovation of over two dozen highly acclaimed golf courses across Canada. He is a founding member of the Stanley Thompson Society which was established to preserve the works of renowned golf course architect, Stanley Thompson. From 2007 to 2100, Ted was also a member of the City of Mississauga Urban Design Advisory Panel. Ted’s work continues to cover a diverse spectrum, from the GTA to the United Arab Emirates and China. He leads the design for many of the firm’s projects in new community master planning, club house site design, resort planning, park planning and streetscape design.

Tim Turner – Director

BLA, OALA, CSLA

Tim has played a key role in developing the company’s vision and design sensibility. He has led many award winning projects including the recently completed and acclaimed Port Credit Village Redevelopment. International projects include work in China, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, in the UAE. More recently, Tim has been involved in the specialized design and construction management of artificial sports fields in Brampton and Markham as well as numerous park and water play developments across the Greater Toronto Area. These projects utilize Tim’s exceptional design and project management skills. Tim is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Ryerson Polytechnical.

Deanne Christie

Associate

BLA, OALA, CSLA

Deanne joined the firm in 1998, bringing her experience and creativity to the team. In 2009, Deanne became an Associate member of the management team. She has become an integral part of our design process, bringing and aptitude for innovative design. She has also taught at Fanshawe College, (3rd year Design program), and University of Guelph, (1st year Master’s program), as well as serving as a guest critic at the University of Guelph. Her involvement in many of the diverse projects of the firm include master planning new urban centres in Sharjah UAE, residential and office communities in Mississauga and currently, the design, approval and construction for a number of condominium developments in the GTA.

Mike Thistle

Senior Administrator / Landscape Architect

BSc, MLA, OALA, CSLA

Mike is a graduate of the University of Guelph and has a keen interest in golf course in gold course design. He joined the firm in 2005, bringing experience in golf course maintenance and construction. Aside from golf course design, Mike has been involved with a variety of projects specializing in park design and resort planning. He is highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp. Mike has developed an expertise in 3-D modeling, enabling vivid graphic representations of landscape designs.

Dan Van Haastrecht - BLA, BCSLA, CSLA

Senior Administrator / Landscape Architect

Dan Van Haastrecht is our newest addition to the BTi team. With ten years of experience managing projects within a highly regarded Vancouver based Landscape Architecture firm (Durante Kreuk Ltd.), Dan has developed a comprehensive knowledge base and skill set. Managing a wide breadth of work including hospitals, schools, transit and sports facilities, commercial and residential developments, urban plazas and city parks, Dan has successfully delivered many quality projects, meeting client needs while working with allied disciplines and contractors.

Mosarrat Sharif

Landscape Architect Associate

MLA, OALA, CSLA

Mosarrat is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she received her Master Degree in Landscape Architecture. She joined the firm in 2002 and since that time, Mosarrat has made an important contribution to a diverse selection of projects. Mosarrat is the firm’s in-house expert in the comprehensive preparation and presentation of working drawings with optimal clarity and understanding for approvals agencies and contractors.

Nick Taylor

Landscape Architectural Intern

BLA

Nick Taylor graduated from the University of Guelph in 2015 with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Degree. He joined Baker Turner Inc. as an intern shortly thereafter. Nick’s interests lay in site inventory and analysis, as well as concept development. He obtained his ISA Arborist Certification in 2016. He is also pursuing CLARB through the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects. Currently, Nick assists with the production of plans, presentation materials, tree inventory and protection plans, as well as assisting in site reconnaissance and construction site inspections.

Jon Woodside

Arborist and Landscape Architectural Intern

BA, MLA, LEED AP, ISA Arborist Certification

Jon Woodside is a Certified Arborist with LEED accreditation. He has developed and managed several forest stewardship plans for a variety of suburban and urban settings. Jon joined the firm in the spring of 2012 and brings with him experience in preservation, restoration and rehabilitation plans, development of working drawings and project administration. Jon supervises site construction where ecological sensitivity is a must.

Siqi Li - BLA, MLA

Landscape Architectural Intern

Siqi Li is a recent graduate the University of Toronto with a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. Academically, Siqi focused on large scale conceptual landscape design and planning work related to issues of sustainability, ecology, urbanism, environmental psychology and behavioural psychology. Her work aims to integrate innovative and sustainable design solutions to create vibrant landscape and urban spaces. Prior to joining BTi, Siqi worked for the University of Toronto contributing to the renovation and construction of the new faculty building.
Siqi has diverse practical graphic design and landscape skills. Siqi will be using her fluency in both English and Mandarin to coordinate BTi projects with the Cohere offices in China.

Eileen Foley

Chartered Accountant and Landscape Architectural Intern

BCOM, CA, CPA, MLA

Eileen joined the firm in 2012 as a landscape architectural intern. She has stayed with us on a part time basis assisting with writing reports, organizing proposals and the occasional landscape design! Eileen approaches every project with enthusiasm, commitment and an excellent eye for detail.

Helene Egan

Office Manager

Helene has been the Office Manager with the firm since 1996. Her role includes the preparation of proposals and reports, general correspondence, timesheet management, invoicing and organization of project files, as well as updating our website and promotional material. Helene is the voice of the firm when you first call and the individual who promptly takes care of your enquiries.

Carroll Nicolls Baker

Carroll keeps us up to date with accounts receivable and accounts payable, working closely with our accountant and bookkeeper.
